In addition, Executive Director Greg Gulley has developed an in-depth presentation on the history of the orphan and orphanage in the former USSR taken from his thesis studies while in graduate school at Duke University. Greg received a Master of Arts in Slavic Languages and Literature with certification in Slavic, Eurasian and East European studies through the Duke University Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East European studies.

Included in this powerful presentation is a history of the orphanage from the time of the Bolshevik Revolution to the present, answering the question of why the orphan system is what it is today, society’s attitude towards the orphan, and the condition of orphans and orphanages.
